How to reinvent your career/business and shift from autopilot to greatness – Part 2

You will face many defeats in life, but never let yourself be defeated. ( Maya Angelou)

Sometimes it is good to get angry.  Angry with yourself for putting up with mediocrity (in one area of your life) for too long, to the point of almost losing your mind.️

Positive anger is triggered when you face obstacles that are a hindrance to your personal development and well-being.  It opens your eyes to see things clearly, and how a particular situation has been or is affecting your life—then it gives you the drive to take the necessary action(s)—to get where you want to be in life.  Positive anger is a good energizer that pushes you towards attaining your career/business goals!

The shift from autopilot to greatness in your career/business begins by observing what is making you angry.  To do this effectively, list down your answers to the following questions:

  1. What do I dislike about the current situation of my career/business?
  2. What do-I-want-more-of in my career/business?

Next, you need to take stock of your skill-set (if you are employed), or your gift (if you are in business) by answering the following questions.

  • What do I like doing—that when I do, I lose track of time?
  • What do I do effortlessly and naturally?
  • What do I find interesting?
  • What do I like to share with others—that gives me recognition and rewards?

Scrutinize list 1, then do the same for list 2.  What you see is the ‘gap’ between your current situation and the ideal situation in your career/business. This is what is holding you back from living to your full potential.  So, what are you going to do about it?

As you think about this, tune in next week for the final part of this topic on ‘How to reinvent your career/business and shift from autopilot to greatness’.  We will look at ways of making the transformation you want to see in your career/business.  Much love and all the best!
